Actual 3-year-old Tony Stark, everyone.

I WAS JUST LOOKING FOR THIS LAST NIGHT AND COULDN’T FIND IT.

Comic panels showing Spiderman, Iron Man, and Hulk. Spiderman is standing on the wall, body parallel to the ground. Iron Man is watching him, interested. Hulk is happily eating pizza. Text:

Iron Man: But can you stick to the window?

Spiderman: Yeah. It’s really easy.

Iron Man: Interesting. That’s glass. A sheer surface. And you’re not even sliding around?

Spiderman: Not at all. Here, push me a little.

Iron Man: Yeah. You’re stuck.

Spiderman: I’m telling you, I stick to everything. Ceiling. Walls. Doors. Windows. I’ve done it all.

Iron Man: Really? Stick to, ummm … stick to – uh – stick to – ahh! Stick to the Hulk.

Later, Hercules shows up: Green Sir. You have a spider on your arm.

Hulk, arm sticking straight out to accommodate Spiderman hanging upside-down from it: Spider-Man is Hulk’s friend.

Now Presenting the LLF Comment Builder (beta)

longlivefeedback:

The @longlivefeedback comment builder is a tool created to help fanfiction readers respond to stories and communicate with authors. We recognize that commenting is a learned skill, and that there are many reasons why an individual may find commenting particularly difficult or daunting.

The LLF Comment Builder is designed to help users learn to comment using instructional scaffolding, as well as to remove other barriers to leaving feedback such as dysexecutive syndrome, anxiety, mobility issues that make typing long reviews difficult (particularly on mobile), language fluency, and mobile commenting functionality in general… or maybe you just aren’t sure what to say.

About comments: I’ve noticed an influx of comments on my fics – which is absolutely wonderful. However, when I reply, giving my thanks and answering questions along with speculation about future events, I notice that I never get a reply back. It’s absolutely nerve wracking, and I’m afraid I’m replying to comments on a way that’s alienating. Do you or anyone else have some tips?

ao3commentoftheday:

One thing that’s come up in reblogs and replies is the idea that commenters aren’t sure what to do with author replies. Should they respond? Not? What if the conversation keeps going? Is that okay? Will the author be annoyed?

A lot of the time, no response is really necessary. You’ve answered the question or thanked them from the comment and that’s it. If you’d like the commenter to reply, maybe try adding in something extra or a question to encourage a response? Treat it like a conversation.

But I wouldn’t worry if you don’t get anything back. A lot of readers are so surprised by replies that they don’t even know what to do 🙂

I usually don’t keep the conversation going when an authour replies to my comment. Even if they include a question. Talking is so hard! They now know I like the fic, so energy can be conserved for the other comments I need to make!

I still love the replies. And I do reply again every once in a while, when I have energy and the topic excites me. But I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong.

New Episode! Our hosts tackle the problematic Defenders #11. Topics include: 70’s racism vs 80’s racism vs today’s racism, Steves being Steves, Chewbacca barflies, AV miscues fucking up Hub’s first comedy sketch, partially M.O.D.O.K.ed Robert Blakes, and the true secret origin of Santa Clause! All this plus the sense shattering debut of “Wong Day’s Journey Into Night”! It probably won’t actually shatter any of your senses, but better safe than sorry! Alarm! Alarm!

[Note: I started writing this review months ago. When this episode came out, actually. And finished it now, without changing anything from back then. Can confirm they’re still great.]

Podcast I started following a few weeks ago. Reviews the old Teen Titans, New Teen Titans, and Defenders series.

Warnings for A LOT of swearing, and constant alcohol consumption on the podcast.

I’m really enjoying them. They love zany, nonsensical comics, and can really share that passion and love.

Here’s how it works:

Hub, the main host, recaps one of the issues. I’ve only just made it past episode 50, so I’m still in Teen Titans, before they became the New Teen Titans. It’s the 70s. I’ve listened to a few of the most recent issues, where the Titans have made it to the 80s and the Defenders are in the 70s. I can confirm that issues being recapped are still crazy.

Possibly all comics are crazy if you read them the right way.

Anyways, Hub gives a recap, usually with as many tangents as I have. It’s pretty funny. Then his brother Cory shows up and they discuss their reactions. Cory hasn’t read many comics, so all his reactions are as a new comer, experiencing the weirdness for the first time. Usually they have drunk quite a bit.

The drinking, and the type of swearing they use, took a little while for me to get used to. But they’re good people, really funny, and obviously really enjoy each other. The chemistry is great. Comics are mocked without things ever getting mean spirited.

The phrase, “It was a different time, when everything was terrible,” is used a lot. Racism and sexism are rampant in these comics, and these two try to tackle that as healthily as two white dudes can. While not losing their joy for the good.

The main weakness is that Hub’s wife, Lisa, sometimes shows up. She’s too good and I want her to be a costar. Why must they torment me like this?

It’s a lot of fun.

Since I think about age-switched Batfamily members pretty much constantly (I am SO PROUD of how long it’s been since I last ranted about them) it isn’t much of a surprise that I fell asleep last night thinking about all the different ways you can do a classic reversed line-up. Enjoy some Excel charts!

(Names are in italics if the method of reversing ages leaves them in the same role as canon. Charts that have more than one column are organised: canon, reversed starting with last canon kid and going up, reversed starting with first canon kid and going down.)

I just realized that this post is undescribed. Under the cut is my best attempt at transcribing. Please message me if you know some way to do it more elegantly!

(Names are in italics if the method of reversing ages leaves them in the same role as canon. Slashes indicate differences between reversed starting with last canon kid and going up and reversed starting with first canon kid and going down. Ie: ‘Red Hood – Tim/Steph’ means “if you started reversing with Damian as Nightwing, Tim ends up as the Red Hood; but if you start reversing with Dick as Robin, Steph ends up the Red Hood.”)

As an australian, this is all I know about american geography

You went around Texas

[Image shows a map of the US. OP has drawn over and labeled the areas they “know.” I shall attempt to explain this using my only slightly more complete knowledge.

  • LA’ is California and it’s north east neighbour. I actually didn’t even realize there was a state there. It’s not New Mexico, Arizona, or Oregon. Hmm, mysterious.
  • Texas‘ is all of central US, not including Texas.
  • Florida,’ surprisingly, seems to be Florida?
  • New York’ is most of the eastern States. I think it includes actual New York? It doesn’t include Maine, or the other north eastern states. Maybe it goes as far north as Massachusetts? Massachusetts is around the top of the range, anyways. The drawn borders go down to Florida and I THINK include the Carolinas? Why does the US have so many states?! EDIT: @tuesdayisfordancing and @justsomeghostofme have confirmed that ‘New York’ does NOT include New York or Massachusetts. I am delighted to learn this!
