just won’t read hate about my favs). I do also have a massive drabble/shorts collection (120+) and never tagged properly on A03 with that, I have angst, fluff and all listed but once I hit 20+ drabbles I found my tagging harder to do so instead in the AN note, I list the warnings, eg Death, Major Violence, Panic Attacks (I do have a main tag that says More Tags In The AN) because I didn’t want to list MCD as a main tag if it happens in 3 or 4 out of 120+ drabbles, and for me, a drabble (2/?)
collection isn’t something that you have to read all the chapters of everything off, you pick and you chose what you like. I’ve read many people who do the same as me, and there’s collections I’ll only read the chapters with stuff I like. Basically, what I’m trying to say is that is there others who do it this way, tag and warn each chapter individually, or do you just do a massive A03 tag list. Hope you have a lovely day. I love your blog! (3/3)
Hi anon, I hope you don’t mind, but I bolded the main thrust of your asks here. There isn’t really a “standard” way of tagging on AO3 (because there are thousands of users). Still, for a situation like this where every chapter of a “fic” is a different story, I think tagging with the main things like pairings and genres etc in the tags with the “additional info in the Author’s Note” is a good way to go. Then you can use the AN at the top of the chapter to list that particular drabble’s specific tags.
What do the rest of you think?
I don’t actually read drabble collections. If there’s more than 5 unrelated stories combined together, it’s too much for me. I’d rather have 100 pages of your archive to wander through.
But I’d think individual chapter warning are probably the most helpful. Maybe add the major triggers to the tag list? Like, you should probably always add ‘rape’ or ‘non con’.
