Marvel Fanfic Recs:  Fluff & LOLs Edition

Tony’s New Assistant by MarbleGlove: The one where, instead of becoming a supervillain when he fell to Earth, Loki somehow ended up as Tony Stark’s personal assistant.

This Has Been a Public Service Announcement by Nokomis: One, two, three, four, Cap declares a prank war. Four, five, six, seven, the wtf factor of Peter’s life has dialed to eleven.

Amateur Theatrics by galaxysoup: Magic and mayhem collide as Loki is de-aged (with the appropriate level of amnesia to boot) in the midst of battling the Avengers.

Stars, Hide Your Fires by Yellow Distress: Tony learns he has a bio kid–now orphaned–named Peter Parker. No one ever accused Tony of being calm or rational when faced with responsibility. And they shouldn’t start now. (Ok, so this is an angsty one, but it’s the kind of angst that trips my fluff trigger, so.)

@kiragecko understood if you’re not into the fandom, but I think Stars Hide Your Fires has the vibe you like. (Yes, it takes its title from the same shakespear quote as my Tim wip, but utilizes it differently.)

Amateur Theatrics is one of my favourite stories! I’m not IN the fandom, but I definitely LIKE the fandom.

asherfaffle:

Major Angst should be an official archive warning, it literally causes me physical and emotional pain to a whole other level and it’s amazing that I haven’t dropped dead yet because my heart feels absolutely torn to shreds at this point

Also, I want to search for that tag, that would be amazing.

is your blog safe for asexuals/aromantics?

FUCK YES

Also while we’re on the topic I really like the idea of Tim or Jason being ace or aro. Thoughts anyone?

RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU’RE HERE FOR ASEXUAL JASON TODD BECAUSE I KNOW I AM

For some reason, I pretty strongly believe Jason should be alloromantic. (Other people with other headcanons don’t bother me at all, of course.) But asexual Jason is actually a pretty cool idea.

I’ve written several times about aro/ace Tim. I like him aro/ace, I like him with trauma making sex complicated, I like him wanting to wait until he feels ready. There are so many possibilities for him!

Batfamily Fanfic Retrospective!

kiragecko:

Update: Some edits to hopefully make things clearer?

I’m trying to put together a history of characterization in
Batfandom fic.

I’m hoping to identify distinct eras in fanfic and end up
with multiple example fic for each era. To accomplish this, I’m going to need
help.

Do you remember a fanfic that really seemed to showcase what
good fanfic was like a certain point?

  • Something where Dick is trying to balance being a good
brother to Tim and a good brother to Damian, written while Red Robin was still
coming out, that seems to really represent what things were like back then?
  • Something about Dick’s relationship to Jason, written before
Jason’s resurrection, that just couldn’t be written these days?
  • Some Steph and Tim lighthearted banter written when it
seemed like they would last forever?
  • Or Tim and Kon stuff where they didn’t villainize Steph and
    it fills you with nostalgia?
  • (These are just examples, not specific things I’m looking for)

Send me a link and description through my ask or submit!
Maybe even through email (kiragecko at gmail) if you don’t trust Tumblr at all.

Also, reblog. I’d love to get this outside of my tiny
circle.

Captain America: Iron Man, you have to switch off the machine NOW

Iron Man: I’m trying but it’s fitted with some sort of defence mechanism that I can’t shut off!

Cap: what’s it doing?

Iron Man: .. It keeps saying ‘please don’t switch me off, I’m scared’ in this tiny little voice.

Cap:

Iron Man: iT SOUNDS LIKE DUM-E’S SAD BEEPING OKAY DON’T MAKE ME DO THIS-

This is hilarious because now I’m just imagining DUM-E being nearby and he literally does not give a SHIT about this tiny robot voice, he is OFFENDED that someone is MANIPULATING HIS FATHER’S FEELINGS, and also he’s a little pistol anyway so he just rolls over, beeping cheerfully, and slams his claw down on the ‘off’ switch repeatedly, while Tony watches on in horror.

Tony VS. Aperture Science Turrets!!

I just pulled up some of my old links to look for you, but honestly? What @olderthannetfic said goes. Early 2000s stuff is going to be shippy, frequently VERY dark, and I think you’re underestimating the amount of emotional labour you’re requesting for people to tag up fics they may not have read in 15 years. I can look at a summary from back then and go ‘I liked this one’ – I wouldn’t be able to tell you what might be a trigger in it without rereading because warnings were different back then.

@zahri-melitor

I do recognize some of this.

I think I assumed that there would be enough people like me – who have difficulty NOT rereading all their favourite fic whenever they see them and keep copies in a dedicated folder on their computer – that the tagging wouldn’t be as big of a challenge.

I knew that Dick not having sex with either of his youngest brothers or his father was going to be a challenge – The Batfam is small and shippers ship what’s available.

But I’m not sure I realized that the Batfam was really dark before I found it. The same period of X-Men fic (or at least the ones I exposed myself to) tended to be quite bright and fun. And other than Te and Lectorel (who are wonderful and horrifying), the Batfam were angsty but hopeful in most of the stuff I found in 2010. Perhaps it’s just who you hang out with, or perhaps that’s why I didn’t find a lot of non-Tumblr Batfam stuff when I first got interested.

Anyways, thanks for looking! I really appreciate it. If you did want to submit something, all I really need is no kids dying and no Batman/Robin or Dick/Robin sex. (Dick/Jason is fine.) But I recognize that I am asking a lot. Asking for tags always is.

If not, thanks again for looking, and for taking the time to reply.

Take a Sad Song and Make it Better – Final Part

Day 7 – Your Idea of Choice = What tropes or things would you like to see?

Bed sharing. I love bed sharing. Whether it’s platonic or romantic, get my favorite characters in the same bed.

If an Alfred knows you’re not sleeping, then you better leave the country.

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6

Tim wants so little. Really.

He just wants to makes his plans, follow his plans, and have no wrenches thrown at his plan.

Is that too much to ask?

Example, when he makes a plan to help with his sleep debt, okay when he’s forced to. Yesterday Alfred cornered him, loomed over him listing every medical study on how the efficiency of the human mind decreases without adequate rest.

It ends up being a pathetic exchange.

Something like, “Master Tim, do you even know the last time you have had six hours of sleep?”

Tim had opened his mouth to argue, he’s got this, finger raised and ready–

“In a row?”

Tim’s mouth snapped closed, his body deflating faster than a balloon.

“Why, it’s been weeks. How completely unacceptable.” Then Alfred patted his hand, gave him that patient, expectant look and helpfully rearranged his schedule.

Deleting everything on his itinerary.

Tattle-telling him to Tam. Informing the Teen Titans of Red Robin’s condition and need. Coercing him to hand over his case files, all of them, to be locked down for the next 24 hours. It’s not fair.

It leaves him no options but to concede. So he makes a plan. A sleep plan.

An amazing end to an amazing week!

These are all wonderful! (I want that bed.)
